In consideration of news that singer-songwriter Michelle Branch and her musician husband Patrick Carney were divorcing, she was taken into custody Thursday morning and charged with domestic abuse.
According to documents obtained by HuffPost and confirmation from Nashville police, officers were called to the couple’s house at 2:08 a.m. on Thursday, when Branch revealed to officers that she and Carney were having relationship issues.
Branch informed police she punched her husband “one to two” times in the face, and Carney agreed during a separate interview with police. “He did not have noticeable injuries,” the police have confirmed.
The “Everywhere” singer was arrested without incident and his bond was set at $1,000. She is scheduled to appear in court on November 7.
Branch and Carney’s lawyers have also been contacted by HuffPost.
The allegations were first reported by TMZ.

Branch published an emotional statement declaring the couple’s separation after accusing her hubby, the Black Keys drummer, of cheating in a since-deleted tweet on Thursday.
Branch said in a statement that was made available to several media sites, “To say that I am absolutely devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family.
She continued, “The foundation has been entirely taken out from under me, and now I have to figure out how to move forward.” “With such immature kids, I appeal for sole privacy and thoughtful consideration.”
The couple married in 2019 and have two children: 4-year-old Rhys James Carney and 6-month-old Willie Jacquet Carney.
